Pitch Slides

Below is a series of screen shots with the content of our pitch, which can be seen here.

In our pitch we covered 5 sections:
  1. An introduction - This was outlining our song choice to the group, why we had chosen it, and allowing them to listen to the song for themselves.
  2. Target Audience - This is where we identified who the 'consumers' or listeners of our band's song would be. It is important you focus target audience not only on those who will listen, but those who would consider going to see this band at a gig or concert. We identified our target audience as both males and females, aged 14-30.
  3. Conventions of Genre - It is very important that the video is appropriate for the genre which the song comes from, in order to make it appeal to your target audience. In this section we showed clips from all the video influences featured earlier in our blog, as well as looking at James Bond as an influence for our main character. As our genre is indie, we will have heavy focus on playing instruments in order to make the band appear authentic, as that is important to our target audience.
  4. Content, Style and Image - Band's images vary across the music industry, and they are often tailored to appeal and 'fit in' with a certain sub-culture that is attached to a musical genre. In our case, The Futureheads wear very plain, dark clothing, something often typical of indie bands of this type. There will be continuity in our video in terms of linking the bands image with the style of the video, dark lighting, industrial locations and appropriate musical props.
  5. Video Content - This was where we outlined our story or narrative for our song. At the start, our main character is working his normal 9-5 office job, dreaming of when he finishes work (fitting with the lyric: "dreaming of the night and I just can't wait"). The middle will feature him getting ready for his evenings work as "the sun goes down". While the ending, as the song reaches his climax, will see him completing his nights work, and the crime will take place. Our ideas need filling out a bit more, but we will develope them to give a strong and convincing narrative. Incorporated into the narrative will be shots of band performance, following all the typical conventions (e.g. close ups on instruments/focus on lead singer).
