Video Influence: Fire - Kasabian
Another current music video that influenced the idea behind our video is the song Fire by Kasabian. This video is a narrative and performance video, the same as ours, and uses similar mise-en-scene, characters and themes as our idea for 'Sun Goes Down' by The Futureheads. This video's narrative is a series of shady characters, planning to rob a bank. We will aim to replicate and develop these characters for our video, because as they will both include a crime (a bank robbery in the case of Kasabian, and a hit man or hired gunman in ours), the characters are appropriately dark and decetful in order to pull off such an act. Secondly, we really like how the band make use of the songs pace and rythm. The song begins very slow, with no real hints of hevy instruments. The narrative keeps to this pace, as we see close ups and tracking shots of the men approaching the bank, but as the chorus starts and the song becomes louder, the real action begins, and the bank robbery starts. Making use of the song's pace to influence your narrative is a good idea and something we will recreate in our video with our narrative. Finally, as Kasabian and The Futureheads are in the same genre, we know these conventions and ideas will be appropriate for our video.
