In our music video we need to plan the lighting that we will use so that we wont need to think about how we can create lighting on the day. In most of the music video the performance that features usually comes from above the band, this means that the upper body, particularly the lead singer, will be in the most light and the key part of the shot. In terms of the narrative for their music videos the lighting is usually set up to create a natural feel throughout.
For the shoot at the office we won't need to bring any extra lighting as the office is well light with ceiling lights, we think that this will be easily enough light as we only want to create a natural feel for this shoot. The lights in the office are bright which is the look that we want to go for.
For the second part of the narrative which will be shot at the house that ours in character is going to break into. This shoot will be at night and again we want to create a natural feel for the music video. It would look out of place if we have bright lights on our character for the part of the scene where he is outside, also there is a lamppost which will offer some light outside. We do want this part to be fairly dark any way do it won't be necessary to bring any extra lighting for this part of the shoot. The lighting inside this house will also be sufficient for the shoot.
For the performance part of the song we will be trying to recreate the similar image that The Fitureheads have created in previous videos with similar lighting styles. They tend not to have to much lighting which means often part of the shot is sometimes in shadow. This is easily recreated in our location as the lighting here is a bright light from above. This will mean that the lead singer of the band will be the main focus as we will position the singer underneath this light. We dont need any more lighting for this shoot, it's not needed it would also be very difficult as we already have a camera, tripod,
drum kit, guitar, microphone and stand and then also other small props such as drum sticks, speakers and stills camera.
